A channel is a section within a team dedicated to a specific topic, department, or project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Viewing teams<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the left side of the app, select <strong>Teams<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teams can display your teams in grid view or list view. The view setting is usually available in your profile settings.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Grid view:<\/strong> shows all teams as cards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>List:<\/strong> shows a collapsible list of teams and channels on the left. class=\"wp-block-heading\">Team settings<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only the team owner can edit the team settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Next to the team name, click <strong>More options (&#8230;)<\/strong> and select <strong>Manage team<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the <strong>Settings<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the settings you can, among other things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>in the <strong>Team details<\/strong> section, change the name, the description, and whether the team is public or private (click <strong>Edit<\/strong>, then <strong>Done<\/strong>),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>change the team picture,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>set member permissions, for example whether they may create, edit, and delete channels, add apps, and delete their own messages,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>set guest permissions, for example whether they may create and edit channels,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>restrict @mentions for the whole team or for an individual channel,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>get a team code that lets other people join the team without a separate invitation,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>manage tags that let you mention a group of members at once.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-note is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Some options can be restricted by the administrator at your institution, so they are not always available. Details: <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/sl-SI\/teams\/teams-channels\/manage-team-settings-and-permissions-in-microsoft-teams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manage team settings and permissions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Channels and tabs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teams are organized into channels and tabs. Conversations take place in channels, while tabs give access to files and other information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Channels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every team has subsections called channels. The General channel is created automatically. You can create additional channels for individual topics, working groups, or subcommittees. When there is new activity in a channel, its name is usually shown in bold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tabs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every channel has its own tabs at the top. The original manual lists the Posts, Shared, and Page tabs. In newer versions the names may differ.
