{"id":6546,"date":"2026-09-06T15:39:17","date_gmt":"2026-09-06T15:39:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.almamater.si\/en\/for-employees\/applications\/turnitin-workflow-and-troubleshooting-employees\/"},"modified":"2026-09-06T15:39:17","modified_gmt":"2026-09-06T15:39:17","slug":"turnitin-workflow-and-troubleshooting-employees","status":"publish","type":"it-navodilo","link":"https:\/\/support.almamater.si\/en\/for-employees\/applications\/turnitin-workflow-and-troubleshooting-employees\/","title":{"rendered":"Workflow, late submissions and troubleshooting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recommended workflow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Stage<\/th><th>What you do<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Before the course starts<\/td><td>Check whether Turnitin is available and which assignment type is appropriate.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>When creating the assignment<\/td><td>Enter a clear title, the instructions, the due date and the points, and review the settings for storage, comparison and report access.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Before publishing<\/td><td>Check the assignment in the student view if Moodle allows it; otherwise check the visibility of the activity and the dates again.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>While submission is open<\/td><td>Monitor the assignment inbox and any technical problems.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>After the due date<\/td><td>Review the Similarity Reports first, then the content.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>When grading<\/td><td>Use comments, QuickMarks and the rubric, and enter the final grade.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Before releasing grades<\/td><td>Align the feedback release date in Turnitin with the visibility of the grade in the Gradebook.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Late submissions and resubmissions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You enable both options in the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.almamater.si\/en\/for-employees\/applications\/turnitin-assignment-settings-employees\/\">submission settings<\/a>, but the following rules apply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A late submission<\/strong> is possible only for a student who has not submitted the assignment before the due date. For the new Standard Assignment, the official guide states that one submission is allowed in this case.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A resubmission<\/strong> is possible up to the due date. Up to three submissions or resubmissions are allowed within 24 hours, counted from the first submission, and each new one overwrites the previous version.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-tip is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Practical recommendation:<\/strong> if you want students to use Turnitin to improve their drafts, state clearly in the assignment instructions how many resubmissions you expect, by when, and whether the student sees the Similarity Report. This is a pedagogical decision and belongs in the assignment instructions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Most common problems<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Problem<\/th><th>What to do<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Turnitin is not among the activities<\/td><td>Check whether it is available as an <strong>External tool<\/strong>. If it is not there either, the Moodle or Turnitin administrator has to configure it.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>I cannot change the date or the title<\/td><td>For the new Standard Assignment, the title, the start date and the due date are edited in Moodle \u2013 see <a href=\"https:\/\/support.almamater.si\/en\/for-employees\/applications\/turnitin-editing-an-assignment-employees\/\">Editing an existing assignment<\/a>.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>A change made in Select content is not visible<\/td><td>Existing assignments cannot be edited there; open the settings using the procedure in the instructions for editing an assignment.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>The Similarity Report is not there yet<\/td><td>The report may still be generating, or generation may be set for the due date. With resubmissions there can be an additional delay.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>The similarity score is very high<\/td><td>Open the report and check the specific matches.
