We would like to inform you that, in accordance with the university’s security standards, starting on June 18, 2025, the use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will become mandatory at Alma Mater Europaea for all users with university accounts in the format firstname.lastname@almamater.si.
What does this mean?
As of June 18, 2025, MFA will be automatically enabled for all users who have not activated it themselves by that date.
After this date, access to services such as VIS, Moodle, email, Microsoft 365, and other IT systems will no longer be possible until MFA is properly configured.
What can you do now?
To prepare for the upcoming changes and avoid potential issues, we recommend the following steps:
1. Change your password in VIS
If you haven’t changed it in the last 6 months, we recommend doing so as soon as possible.
Path: VIS > My Data > Change Password
2. Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
We recommend setting up MFA before June 18, 2025, so you can:
- have control over the activation process
- avoid potential issues with automatic activation
Instructions for setting up MFA are available here: [Link to MFA setup instructions]. You can find more information about MFA here.
3. Confirm successful MFA setup
If you successfully set up MFA before June 18, 2025, please confirm it by filling out this form: MFA-activation
4. Important date: July 15, 2025
On this date, a one-time mandatory password change will be triggered for all users with an @almamater.si email address who have not changed their password in the last 6 months (as shown in the image).
Multi-Factor Authentication significantly improves the security of your data – according to Microsoft, it prevents more than 99% of unauthorized access attempts (source: Microsoft MFA security study).
