What is digital identity?

For Students Last updated: 16. 04. 2026

At Alma Mater Europaea University we provide students and alumni with a unified digital identity, which is created when an enrollment invitation is issued. The username is generated automatically from the first and last name. If that combination already exists, a sequence number is appended.
Every user thus gets their own username in the form firstname.lastname@almamater.si, which together with the password enables sign-in to various services and tools.
The services available to a user depend on their status. Active students have more services available than alumni.
DIGITAL IDENTITY = USERNAME + PASSWORD

Important: If you use other Microsoft accounts (e.g. from other institutions or for personal use), we recommend that when signing in with your Alma Mater identity (SSO) you use either incognito (private browsing) mode in your browser, or use a different browser in which you are not signed in to Microsoft services.

The digital identity username is at the same time the student’s official university e-mail address, to which Alma Mater sends all official messages from the VIS and Moodle systems.
